Decades of unrestrained consumption and population growth are exhausting the Earth’s ability to sustain such demand. Humanity’s survival is being threatened unless it can figure out a way to reverse this trend and consider the environmental impact of its actions.
Shifting Normal explores the changes some Americans are making to address this issue in order to live in a more sustainable manner. Shifting Normal is part of the Provocative Nation project. Learn more at www.provocativenation.com.

Looking at the first image, the one with the blue car, at first I didn’t get it.
Then WOW, what a simple statement that expresses so much meaning!
Very well seen capture indeed, unless of course this was set up. If this is the case this also deserves accolades. This image would make a great poster with no text to spoil, the in a way, suddle message, and yet not so suddle message.
Rick- The scene was only discovered after I stepped out of the driver’s seat to realize where I had parked. What a moment for us. We love this image and we are glad you do as well. Thanks for the feedback and stay in touch.
Changing existing structures and building with sustainability in mind is the core of our philosophy and business. We encourage you so show more images that reflect this evolving and growing awareness of environmental movement and the changes that need to be made to make our planet more inhabitable for ourselves and future generations. Best of luck…and Thanks!
wooow
so cool America cares as you are one of the biggest garbage producer in the world !
Some amazing pictures Mauro.
Shame couldnt be in NYC to see the exhibit…
Hey Tonianne,
Beautiful and frightening at the same time. The one of the blue car is the most simple reminder of how quickly and recklessly we abandon material things then replace them without any regard to the impact of our actions. I think it an amazing and inspiring project and you should be very proud.
Love to shot of the Pittsburgh steel mill

The pic of the blue bags at the recycling center in South Lake Tahoe give a whole new meaning to the slogan “Keep Tahoe blue”!
Good luck with your second exhibition! Wish I could make it to NYC to see it this time round… Keep up the amazing work, Mauro and Tonianne!
